Divorce mediation in Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland

Going through a divorce is hard. Mediation gives you a calmer way to work it out. I help you and your spouse talk through each decision and reach an agreement together, without fighting in court. I don’t take sides, and you make the choices.

What we work on

  • How to split what you own, like the house, cars, and savings
  • How to split what you owe, like loans and credit cards
  • A schedule for time with the kids, if you have children
  • Holidays, school breaks, and how you’ll make big decisions for the kids

What to expect

First, we have a short call to answer your questions. Then we meet, in person in the Tri-Cities or on Zoom, at a pace that works for both of you. You can meet together, or I can talk with each of you separately.

What you agree on goes into a written agreement. You or your attorneys can use it in your case.

Why choose mediation for your divorce

  • It usually costs much less than going to court, and you split the cost.
  • You decide, not a judge.
  • It’s private. What you say stays in mediation, with only a few exceptions set by law.
  • It’s easier on your kids. Less fighting now means less fighting later.

Common questions

Do we both have to agree to mediation?

Yes. Mediation works when both people choose to take part. If the other person isn’t sure, I’m happy to answer their questions too.

Do I still need an attorney?

I’m not an attorney, and I don’t give legal advice. Many people have an attorney look over the agreement before they sign. I recommend it.

What if we can’t agree on everything?

That’s okay. Nothing counts until you both sign, and anything you do agree on leaves less for a judge to decide.

Mediation is not legal advice. Victor Barajas is not an attorney. We encourage each person to talk with an attorney.
